Valentina & Edward | Engagement at Dar El Bacha, Marrakech
Valentina and Edward’s engagement session took us to Dar El Bacha, in the Marrakech medina. We moved between the white arches, carved doorways and tiled walls, stopping for portraits together and on their own. Her orange dress stands out against the mosaics; his navy jacket brings a darker note to the same frames.
Through the arches
We began with a few steps across the chequered floor. The doorways gave us room for wider frames, then we moved closer: a hand on Edward’s jacket, a kiss, Valentina turning in the narrow passage. I kept portraits of each of them alongside the photographs together.
Beside the mosaics
At the tiled wall, the pace slows down. Valentina sits beneath the patterned panel, then Edward joins her. The wider photographs leave the whole setting in view; the closer ones bring us back to their faces and hands. A small change in where they look makes each portrait feel different.
Back in the courtyard
The last part of the session has more movement: walking hand in hand, turning beneath the arches and laughing in front of the wooden doors. We finish with the two of them framed by a doorway, with enough space around them to see where we have spent the session.
