Casandra & Matt | An Elopement in the Agafay Desert
Casandra and Matt’s elopement in the Agafay desert began with a card game and tea at the camp. They exchanged handwritten vows on a red rug overlooking the rocky hills, then walked out together for portraits as the daylight softened. Photographs by Adil Youri tell the story in three chapters, from the preparations to the last image after dark.
Tea and preparations at the Agafay camp
Inside their canvas tent, Casandra and Matt sat on the bed playing cards. Tea followed on the terrace, with the hills stretching out beyond the wooden railing. Rings, handwritten letters and their wedding clothes were laid out nearby. Matt changed into a white shirt and beige trousers while Casandra finished her makeup, fastened her jewellery and put on her white bow sandals.
A first look, handwritten vows and wedding rings
Matt waited beside black lanterns on a red rug as Casandra walked down from the camp in her white wrap dress. Their first look led into the ceremony, with each reading from handwritten notes. Smiles, laughter and tears filled the exchange. After the vows and rings, they kissed against the open landscape of Agafay.
Portraits in the hills, from afternoon to twilight
The portraits followed the paths and rocky ridges around the camp. Casandra and Matt walked hand in hand, laughed in the wind and paused together on the hillside. Matt carried Casandra on his back before they sat down to watch the evening light. As the sky darkened, the mood turned playful again with jumps on a trampoline and balancing on wooden posts. A portrait by a green-lit doorway closed the sequence after nightfall.
