Julia & Dan | A Jewish Wedding at Fairmont Taghazout Bay
Julia and Dan celebrated their Jewish wedding at Fairmont Taghazout Bay, on Morocco’s Atlantic coast near Agadir. Across two days, the story moved from a beach party and henna celebration to the wedding ceremony and an evening of live music. These six chapters follow the couple, their guests and the coastal setting through photographs by Adil Youri.
A beach party beside the Atlantic
The celebrations began beside the sea. Musicians welcomed the guests, colourful stalls lined the beach and food was prepared on outdoor grills. Julia and Dan joined their friends for dancing on the sand, with the Atlantic just behind them. Between the portraits, the photographs follow the small details of the setting: woven baskets, embroidered outfits, flowers and the hotel gardens.
The henna celebration
For the henna celebration, Julia wore a pale caftan with gold embroidery. The couple arrived above the crowd in ornate carrying chairs, surrounded by guests and attendants. Henna was placed in the palm, topped with a coin and covered with a white ribbon. After the celebration, Julia and Dan rode together along the shoreline.
A moment together on Taghazout beach
Away from the crowd, Julia and Dan danced barefoot and ran through the shallow waves. Her pale green dress moved with the breeze while their reflections appeared on the wet sand. The portraits move between playful moments and quieter embraces, with the sea filling the background.
Getting ready for the wedding
The following day began in the hotel suites. Julia’s floral dress hung from the glass balcony while hair and makeup were finished; Dan adjusted his tuxedo before walking through the gardens with his companions. There was time for Julia to read a letter, put on her shoes and share a few portraits with her guests before leaving for the ceremony.
The ceremony, cocktail and evening portraits
A flower-covered chuppah stood beside the ocean, reached by a white aisle bordered with flowers. The photographs follow the arrivals, a quiet exchange between Julia and Dan, the cup and the ring, and their decorated marriage document. Afterwards, musicians accompanied the cocktail reception. As the light faded, the couple returned beneath the canopy for portraits against the evening sky.
Music, dancing and the wedding reception
Chandeliers and strings of lights filled the reception canopy. The band drew guests onto the dance floor, where Julia and Dan were lifted on chairs and surrounded by friends. Their quieter dance was followed by more music, a tall cake covered with pale flowers and guests singing around a white grand piano. The story closes with the warm glow of lanterns.
