Juliette and Simon laughing together at their Jewish wedding at Domaine Abiad, Marrakech

Juliette & Simon | A Jewish Wedding at Domaine Abiad, Marrakech

Juliette and Simon celebrated their Jewish wedding at Domaine Abiad in Marrakech over three days. Henna first, then an afternoon by the pool, before everyone dressed up for the wedding itself.

There was plenty of dancing, and a few quieter moments I wanted to keep here too: Simon having his collar adjusted, Juliette with her bridesmaids, and the time she spent reading before the ceremony.

Henna

At the henna, Juliette and Simon were lifted above their guests, hands in the air and smiles all around. I like how close these photographs feel to the people celebrating with them.

By the pool

Football on the lawn, yoga, and friends gathered around the pool. Some danced; others stayed seated and watched. There was room for both.

Simon getting ready

Simon put on his shoes and had a little help with his collar before joining his friends outside. A few portraits under the arches, then it was time to go.

Juliette getting ready

Upstairs, Juliette was having her hair done. Her shoes and jewellery were ready, and friends moved between the bedroom and the courtyard while she got dressed.

With her bridesmaids

Her bridesmaids joined her beneath the arches in brown dresses. Between the group photographs, someone reached in to adjust her hair and veil. I kept that small gesture alongside the portraits.

Before the ceremony

Juliette sat alone, reading the wedding blessings. These are some of the photographs I would give the most space to: her face, her hands, and the open pages.

The ceremony

Simon drew Juliette’s veil over her face and leaned close to her before the ceremony. Later, he slipped the ring onto her finger. She held her hand up, smiling. These small gestures belong here alongside the wider photographs of the Jewish ceremony at Domaine Abiad, before the hugs and congratulations.

The evening

Juliette and Simon were back among their friends on the dance floor. The cake arrived later in the evening, with more cheering, more raised arms, and the two of them still smiling.
